For the season of Professional Fighters League 2022, PFL 3 will host a full action-packed event on May 6, 2022 at the Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This will be the third regular season event of the tournament.
The event will headline the women's lightweight competition between 2019 and 2021 champion Kayla Harrison and Bellator expert Marina Mokhnatkina. The co-main will present a welterweight bout between 2019 and 2021 champion Ray Cooper III, who will face unbeaten Magomed Umalatov.
In further action, "The Red King" Rory MacDonald (22-8-1) made his highly anticipated return to the PFL action, where he will face American Brett Cooper (28-15). Former world champion Anthony "Showtime" Pattis (24-12) will face Ireland's Myles Price (11-7) in a match that was re-arranged from PFL 1.
The PFL is the first and only MMA league with a true form of the sports season where elite fighters from around the world compete in regular seasons, playoffs and championships. The four rivals in each division who earn the most points in the regular season at the One or Go home play office, followed by the MMA's biggest night - the PFL World Championship - with each winner a million. Goes home with a 1 million reward.
It was a watershed moment for the PFL, a testament to its growing strength in the MMA scene and its new ability to compete with the big boys. The promotion, which was set up just five years ago on the ashes of the World Series of Fighting, now seems to be moving at a pace that could soon overtake Blatter as the number two name in the MMA.
But if you ask PFL CEO Peter Murray, it already exists.
"We're number two in terms of multiple metrics," he told MMA Hour earlier this month.
Murray, a former senior executive at Endeavor Group who owns the NFL and UFC, believes that the combination of PFL's high skills and broadcast partnership with ESPN's choice now puts it second only to the UFC.
