French MMA star Abdoul Abdouraguimov is set to compete on home soil once again, as he takes on Argentina’s Laureano Staropoli in the main event of 2024 PFL Europe 4. The highly anticipated welterweight bout will headline the event on December 14 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. PFL officials confirmed the news Monday morning, igniting excitement among fans.
Abdouraguimov, known as “Lazy King,” boasts an impressive 18-1 record. He is riding an eight-fight win streak, with his most recent victory being a split decision win over Jack Grant at PFL Europe 1 in March. Before that, Abdouraguimov had finished seven straight opponents, showcasing his dominant ground game and ability to end fights in spectacular fashion. Competing in Lyon will provide the French star an opportunity to fight in front of a passionate home crowd, adding to the intensity of the bout.
Staropoli, with a 13-6 record, is no stranger to big fights. The Argentinian fighter earned four straight wins, including a notable finish over former UFC competitor Mickael Lebout. However, he faced a setback in April, suffering a submission loss to Murad Ramazanov. Staropoli now looks to bounce back by spoiling Abdouraguimov’s homecoming and securing a major victory.
In addition to the main event, 2024 PFL Europe 4 will feature four championship bouts as part of the PFL Europe finale. Four fighters will be crowned PFL Europe champions, each earning a coveted $100,000 prize. The lineup includes:
Daniele Miceli vs. Florim Zendeli for the PFL Europe Welterweight Championship
Connor Hughes vs. Jakub Kaszuba for the PFL Europe Lightweight Championship
Alexander Luster vs. Lewis McGrillen for the PFL Europe Bantamweight Championship
Shanelle Dyer vs. Paulina Wisniewska for the PFL Europe Women’s Flyweight Championship
With a packed card and high-stakes fights, the event promises to be one of the most thrilling in PFL Europe history. MMA fans won’t want to miss Abdouraguimov’s return to Lyon as he faces off against the dangerous Staropoli.
