AJ McKee wants to fight Usman Nurmagomedov

AJ McKee has challenged new lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov to a fight.

In typical Bellator form, the organisation is reportedly planning to hold a lightweight Grand Prix featuring eight competitors competing for the 155-pound title. AJ McKee, one of the competitors, has stated who he would like to face first in the competition.

The 27-year-old chose to step up to lightweight despite having a 1-1 record against the South American and started building a title run.

In a recent interview, AJ McKee stated that if it were up to him, he'd be paired up against Usman Nurmagomedov in the first round.

He said: "I want my title, man. Usman [in the first round] then. Look, when I signed up for the 145lbs tournament, I proved myself the entire way through the tournament. I told everybody I'm gonna finish everybody, so stepping into another tournament, I have to prove myself again? I mean, I have no problem doing that."

Usman Nurmagomedov defeated Patricky "Pitbull" in a commanding performance the last time they fought, becoming the first Dagestani to ever win a championship under the Bellator brand.

The Russian is already a target for certain boxers despite only holding the belt for a month.
