According to reports, Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko will rematch on September 16 for the UFC flyweight championship.
The initial source to break the news of the Grasso vs. Shevchenko rematch plans for the UFC was The Schmo. At UFC 285 earlier this year, Grasso defeated Shevchenko in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.
Shevchenko appeared to be in control in the first rounds, but Grasso took advantage of a mistake by Shevchenko to secure the face-crank submission.
Since switching from strawweight to flyweight, Grasso has won five straight matches. She recently defeated Viviane Arajo and Maycee Barber, among others.
The atmosphere for Grasso vs. Shevchenko on Mexican Independence Day might be among the most exciting in recent UFC history.
However it is unclear if the event will take place in Mexico or the United States. Shevchenko was one of the most dominant champions in UFC history prior to losing to Grasso.
After winning the UFC women's flyweight title for the first time, she successfully defended it seven times.
