The main contestant of Friday's Bellator 278 show is women's flyweight champion Juliana Velasquez against former UFC women's bantamweight ( click here ) and flyweight title challenger Liz Carmouche. UFC veteran Enrique Barzola is taking part in the main event action against Nikita Mikhailov.
Enrique Barzola competed against Nikita Mikhailov in Bellator 278 for a place in the Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix. For the first time in Bellator's history, wild card competitions were being played for the Grand Prix, and both took place on Friday.
Nikita Mikhailov and Enrique Barzola were the second of two qualifiers in Baletter 278 to decide which Baletter would enter the Bantamweight Grand Prix. As if this was not a difficult task, but the winner will face Magomed Magomedov. Megomedov is a finishing machine, and while he is suffering from Raufeon Stots, Megomedov is one of the toughest draws in the division.
The co-main event came next, when Barzola (18-5-1 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) defeated Nikita Mikhailov (9-2 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) by a unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
Barzola grounded all three rounds against Fedor team member Mikhailov and did not give up throughout the match. When the judge came down with his decision, there was no doubt as to who was moving forward.

With the win, the next match between the two fighters is already booked on June 24 at Baletter 282. Sabatello will face Pitbull Brothers' underling Leandro Higo (21-5 MMA, 4-3 BMMA) and on the same card, Barzola will face Zabit Magomedsharipov's teammate Magomed Magomedov (18-2 MMA, 2-1 BMMA).
Now, Barzola has to face the extreme game Magomedov in the first round of the Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix. Barzola, like fellow qualifier Danny Sabatello, dominated the fight, breaking through the journal logo. Both Barzola and Sabatello will have to step up their game if they hope to win the Bantamweight Championship and 1 million.
