Cat Zingano has once again proved himself an unbeaten fighter in Bellator.
Bellator 282, broadcast live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on Friday, June 24, 2022. Which Zingano (12-4 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) defeated Pam Sorenson (9-5 MMA, 1-2 BMMA) by a unanimous decision (29-26, 29-27, 29-27). Saved as the next title challenger for Cris Cyborg.
For almost the entire fight, Zingano was somehow in control. Whether on the fence or on the mat, Sorenson could not escape the control of former UFC women's bantamweight title challenger Zingano.
In Round 1, Zingano was her own worst enemy. She hit a brutal knee in Sorenson's skull, which was open. One point was deducted by the referee and the proceedings continued.
Zingano made another head kick to start the second and then took the third take of the fight. Sorenson struggled to defend and get back on her feet. Zingano hit Sorenson with elbows and punches in almost all rounds.
Zingano opened the third with a kick, then shot to take down, just to repel Sorenson. Sorenson, in a moral victory, managed to stay on her feet for a full minute in the third frame. However, it did not last long. Zingano took off in just one minute and then injured half the guard.
Sorenson spent most of the round at the bottom, eating steaks, but slowly made her way to the fence. After reaching the knee, She had to face the threat of retreat with Zingano. Zingano then pulled Sorenson down to the side control and rested one or two knees on her body. Whether the point was deducted or not, the winner was clear after fifteen minutes.
An alarming sign after the fight, however, Zingano had difficulty standing and was taking care of her injured knee.
