Boxing and MMA pros not happy with decision in Haney vs Lomachenko

On Saturday night, Devin Haney defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko, but he may need more work to prevail in the eyes of the general people.

Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision to maintain both his undisputed lightweight champion title and his perfect record.

It was close the entire time, but Haney won with scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113.

There was early scepticism over the scoring, as is typical with high-stakes boxing matches involving equally matched fighters, and several well-known figures commented on social media to cast doubt on the judging.

Combat sports personality Dillon Danis stated plainly that “Lomachenko was robbed,” while Bellator commentator Josh Thomson took the criticism a step further, writing that “This is why people don’t watch boxing anymore.”

Many others also spoke out in support of Lomachenko as they voiced their criticism of the judgment.
