Cain Velasquez denied bail for the third time.

Cain Velasquez will remain in jail after he was denied bail for the third time.

On Monday, Velasquez appeared in the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice in San Jose for a hearing in which Judge Shelyna Brown refused a motion for bail.

Judge Brown denied Velasquez's defense request, which claimed that Harry Goularte, Patricia Goularte, and Paul Bender did not want to testify in a civil trial, which should be altered to a circumstantial charge and should allow the defendant bail.

Harry Goularte is being sued for the sexual harassment of Cain Velasquez's four-year-old kid.

Attorneys for Velasquez filed a case against Harry Goularte on behalf of his 4-year-old son, who was allegedly molested by Goularte between 2021 and 2022.

Why was Velasquez detained?

Velasquez is accused of shooting at a man who was charged with abusing a close relative. However, he appears to have missed that individual, and his bullet struck the defendant's stepfather instead.

Cain Velasquez is now facing ten charges, including attempted murder, firing at an inhabited motor vehicle or aircraft, assault with a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, wilfully discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm with the purpose to commit a felony.

If convicted of attempted murder, he faces a minimum of 20 years in jail and up to life in prison, with additional time added if convicted on the other charges.

Cain Velasquez has been detained since February 28. He is scheduled to appear in court once more on August 5 and has a plea hearing scheduled on August 19.
