Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga

Canelo Alvarez continued his dominance in the super middleweight division with a unanimous decision victory over Edgar Berlanga at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While Alvarez didn't secure the knockout he had hoped for, he showcased his skill and power, delivering a masterful performance over 12 rounds.

The fight was filled with tension, as the two fighters exchanged trash talk and had to be separated several times. Berlanga was even warned for headbutting, which seemed to frustrate Alvarez.

"I get a little angry – a Mexican man," Alvarez quipped, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

Despite the tension, Alvarez maintained control throughout the bout, outclassing Berlanga in nearly every round.

The judges scored the fight 117-110, 118-109, and 118-109, all in favor of Alvarez, who knocked Berlanga down with a powerful left hook in the third round. Although Berlanga quickly got back on his feet, he struggled to turn the tide as Alvarez continued to dominate the exchanges. Despite Alvarez landing heavy punches, Berlanga showed resilience, lasting all 12 rounds against one of boxing’s greatest.

Alvarez, who has gone six fights without a knockout, last secured a stoppage in 2021 against Caleb Plant. Despite not getting the finish, the 34-year-old Mexican star was in top form, further solidifying his status as one of the sport's best. “I’m the best fighter in the world,” Alvarez declared, drawing loud cheers from the packed Las Vegas crowd.

For Berlanga, this fight marked his first career defeat, dropping his record to 22-1.

“I could’ve done a lot more. But I was in there with a legend, man,” Berlanga said after the fight, acknowledging Alvarez’s legendary status.

With the win, Alvarez improves his record to 62-2-2 and retains his super middleweight title, continuing his reign as the undisputed king of the division.
