Darren Till appears to be on the cusp of returning to the octagon. Since his unexpected exit from the UFC earlier this year, the English fighter has been relatively quiet, leaving many to wonder about his future in the sport. However, recent reports suggest that Till is in discussions to make a comeback against Russian internet sensation Magomed Ismailov.
Till's journey outside the UFC began in February when it was revealed that he had requested to be released from his contract with the promotion. He clarified his decision on social media, explaining that he wanted to explore other opportunities and take some time to focus on different aspects of his career.
"What's happening everyone, Me, Dana & Hunter are still cool as hell. I asked UFC to remove me just to sort some other shit for the foreseeable, They happily agreed to release me out of contract which I appreciate. I'm not going anywhere, got big plans to execute & I'll be back," Till shared.
Since then, the MMA world has been waiting for news of Till's return. Recent reports from Russian outlet Red Fury suggest that a bout between Darren Till and Magomed Ismailov is in the works, and negotiations are reportedly in an advanced stage.
"BOOM! According to the information, Magomed Ismailov against Darren Till is being developed at one of the tournaments in Russia! The sides are at an advanced stage of negotiations. This information was confirmed by a friend of Magomed Ismailov," revealed on Instagram.
While an official fight date remains undisclosed, it is anticipated that the potential matchup will be part of a tournament held in Russia, adding to the intrigue of the announcement.
Till, a former UFC title challenger, concluded his tenure with the promotion on a three-fight losing streak. His last bout took place in December of the previous year, where he suffered a submission loss to Dricus Du Plessis. With a record of 6-5-1 in the UFC and victories over notable opponents like Kelvin Gastelum, Stephen Thompson, and Donald Cerrone, Till is eager to prove himself once more.
Magomed Ismailov, on the other hand, boasts a 4-0 record in ACA and notable wins over the likes of Alexander Shlemenko and Aleksander Emelianenko. The potential matchup promises to be a thrilling showdown between two accomplished fighters from different corners of the MMA world.
