Edwin Rosario, one of Puerto Rico's best ever.

On June 23, 1984, WBC Lightweight champion Edwin Rosario won a 12-round split decision over Howard Davis Jr, at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The fight was televised live by ABC on Wide World of Sports and was Rosario's 2nd title defense.

Davis, the 1976 Olympic Gold medalist, entered the fight ranked No. 2 at lightweight by the WBC.

This was Davis' second attempt at the WBC lightweight title. In his first shot, he had lost to Jim Watt by a 15-round unanimous decision on June 7, 1980.

Rosario floored Davis in the 2nd and 12th rounds. Rosario was a beast beating everyone in his way until he met Salvador Sánchez. Before that Rosario seemed unstoppable.
