Gegard Mousasi eyes Bellator 296 win over Fabian Edwards to earn last title shot vs. Johnny Eblen

Bellator fans are eagerly anticipating the middleweight matchup between Gegard Mousasi and Fabian Edwards at Bellator 296. For Mousasi, this could be one of his last chances to earn another shot at the title, as he eyes retirement after just two more fights.

Mousasi has been a dominant force in MMA for years, with an impressive record of 49-8-2. However, his recent loss to Johnny Eblen has put his Bellator title hopes on hold. To earn another shot at Eblen, Mousasi must first get past the tough and talented Fabian Edwards. The bout will be Bellator 296 headliner at Accor Arena in Paris.

Edwards, who is coming off a unanimous decision win over Charlie Ward, will be no easy task for Mousasi. But the former Bellator and Strikeforce champion is up for the challenge. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Mousasi still has his sights set on another title, and he knows that a win over Edwards is crucial to making that happen:

“After this fight, probably a title fight,” Mousasi said. “That’s the only fight that makes sense. That’s my goal: Beat Fabian and fight for the belt one more time because it’s probably gonna be my last chance to fight for the belt.”

Mousasi's opponent, Fabian Edwards, is no slouch. The British fighter has a record of 11-2 and has shown time and again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division. But Mousasi is not intimidated. He sees this fight as an opportunity to showcase his skills and prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

For Mousasi, the stakes are high. If he wins, he will earn another shot at Johnny Eblen, who dominantly dethroned him at Bellator 282. If he is successful according to his plan, it could spell the end of his Bellator career.

“Probably those are gonna be the last two fights, to be honest, but I’m never gonna say anything until the fight happens,” Mousasi added. “But, beat this guy and go for the belt one more time, and that’s gonna decide if I’m gonna retire or not.”

Despite the pressure, Mousasi is staying focused and determined. He knows that this could be one of his last chances to prove himself in the cage, and he is determined to make the most of it. For fans of MMA, this is a matchup not to be missed. Two talented fighters, both with something to prove, going head-to-head in what promises to be an explosive fight.
