Gilbert Burns is All Praise for Gregory Rodrigues ahead of UFC 283

The UFC welterweight, Gilbert Burns has high expectations from his fellow Brazilian, Gregory Rodrigues as the duo are set to light up the Jeunesse Arena in Rio at UFC 283.

UFC returns to Brazil for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic and it doesn’t get much better than this as the star-studded card is lined up to deliver the show for the fans in the promotion’s first PPV of the year.

The former welterweight champ, Burns is excited to be part of this event. He will be fighting Neil Magney in the main card but the fight that interests him more than his own is of his training partner, Gregory Rodrigues.

Burns has showered huge praise on Rodrigues and believes he has a bright future in the company. Rodrigues will be looking to make it three wins on the trot when he faces Brunno Ferreira on the same night as the ‘Durrinho’.

Burns admired Gregory’s passion for this sport and brought everyone’s attention to him during UFC 283 media day.

“Number one guy that I’m super excited about is Gregory Rodrigues,” Burns said. “I think that guy is the future of the middleweight division…this guy gave me a headache at the beginning of my camp, we sparred very hard…I think he’s gonna do great.”

Gregory, also known as Robocop, was involved in a ‘Fight of the Year candidate bout against Chidi Njokuani last September where he came back miraculously to win the fight by TKO.

The Robocop suffered huge damage in the opening round, suffering a gruesome cut on his forehead but was able to recover on time to finish the job.

Now, Gregory is all geared up to give his everything in the octagon this Saturday against Ferreira. A win here will definitely earn him entrance into the middleweight’s top 10 rankings.
