The next Invicta FC event will be on the Strawweight Gold Line as Emily Ducote will welcome Alesha Zappitella in the Strawweight Division in the title fight at Invicta FC 47 on May 11.
On Tuesday, promotion officials announced the full card for Invicta FC's latest event in a press release. It will feature Strawweight Champion Emily Ducote, who will line up her ballot against former Atomweight Champion Alisha Zappitella.
Ducote will try to defend her first title after winning a gold medal at the Invicta FC 44 on August 28. Ballet's veteran Daniel Taylor is leading 4-1 in the best knockouts of the year in 2021 with a title-winning head kick.
Meanwhile, Zapatella, 27, tries to make history by gaining weight to challenge Ducote. Former Invicta FC Atomweight champion lost a belt to Jessica Delboni after defending a title in January and has now chosen to move divisions and pursue a second championship with promotion.
On Tuesday, promotion officials confirmed five other matches for Invicta FC 47 through a press release: Courtney King vs. Chelsea Chandler Featherweight; Lindsey VanZandt vs. Jillian DeCoursey atomweight; Lisa Verzosa vs. Serena de Jesus in Bantamweight Janice Morandin vs. Liana Perosin Flyweight and Jennifer Cheng vs. Alyssa Lindowska in Strawweight.
But now the Invicta Fighting Championship 47 card has undergone some changes.
Former Bantamweight title challenger Lisa Verzosa has been forced to withdraw from a proposed confrontation with Serena de Jesus, according to a release from the All Women Promotion. As a result, Brittney Cloud will replace Verzosa and Lock Horns in a new 5 135 pairing with DeJesus.
Meanwhile, an extra weight bout has been added against Fatima Klein against Sydney Trelo, increasing the Invicta FC 47 lineup to a total of seven bouts.
Invicta FC 47 is taking place on May 11 at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, and is headlined by the tug-of-war between current champion Emily Ducote and former atomic weight queen Elisha Zappitella. The card airs at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m Invicta FC PT on YouTube channel
