Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, a beloved UFC fighter who retired last year, is now enjoying his retirement from mixed martial arts. In the latter two years of his MMA career, Cerrone has lost six fights, with the "Cowboy" being knocked out in four of them.
On May 4, 2019, at UFC Fight Night 151, he defeated veteran UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta by a majority decision to earn his most recent victory.
At the age of 39, Cerrone retired from mixed martial arts after he was defeated by Jim Miller in a submission at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022.
In his post-fight interview, he told Joe Rogan, "...I don't love it anymore, Joe. It's hard for me to get up, and this was the longest camp I've had in a long time, and I'm not complaining to anybody, but I just don't love it anymore. I'm going to be a movie star, baby."
Cerrone will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 6 this year, according to the UFC. He will be a part of the 2023 class among fighters like Jose Aldo, Anderson Silva, and Jens Pulver.
Cerrone has also been cast in four films and the Chris Pratt-starring Amazon TV series The Terminal List in 2022. He hasn't hinted at fighting again, but some of his followers appear to think he will.
On April 29, he made an appearance at a Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event that featured a match between Mike Perry and Luck Rockhold. Following Perry's TKO victory over Rockhold, Cerrone was challenged to a bare-knuckle boxing contest.
It's unknown if Cerrone would be enthusiastic in taking on Perry for the BKFC. Many former UFC fighters who wanted to continue fighting in BKFC have competed in the bare-knuckle league. However, "Cowboy" appears content with his acting work and places a priority on his family.
