James Gallagher to face James Gonzalez at Bellator 298

The replacement for James Gallagher's fight in the Bellator cage in August has been decided.

Gallagher will now take on James Gonzalez at Bellator 298, according to several sources with knowledge of the promotion's goals. The event takes place on August 11 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Gonzalez will take the place of Cris Lencioni, who experienced cardiac arrest earlier this month, his wife Marca wrote on social media.

After two withdrawals following his most recent defeat to Patchy Mix at Bellator 270 in November 2021, Gallagher will return to the ring at last. "The Strabanimal" had won four straight matches before to that, three of which were by submission.

Gonzalez, a former CFFC champion, has won four of his last six fights. At Bellator 282 in June 2022, Gonzalez gave Cody Law his first professional defeat. Gonzalez's most recent fight was at Bellator 295 in April, where he lost to Aaron Pico by unanimous decision.

Logan Storley vs. Brennan Ward at welterweight will be the main event of Bellator 298.
