Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page Set for Middleweight Clash at UFC 319 in Chicago

Veteran powerhouse Jared Cannonier will step into the Octagon for the 20th time under the UFC banner when he takes on dynamic striker Michael “Venom” Page at UFC 319, scheduled for August 16 at the United Center in Chicago. The UFC officially confirmed the middleweight matchup on Friday, with the initial report coming from MagicM.

Cannonier (18-8) remains a fixture among the UFC’s elite middleweights, currently sitting at No. 7 in the official rankings. Over his 10-year UFC tenure, Cannonier has shown remarkable versatility, competing in three divisions—heavyweight, light heavyweight, and now middleweight. The 40-year-old title challenger previously fought for the 185-pound crown at UFC 276, where he dropped a lackluster decision to then-champion Israel Adesanya.

Despite that setback, Cannonier has maintained his status as a threat in the division. He’s 3-2 in his last five fights and is coming off an impressive victory over Gregory Rodrigues in February. With a UFC record of 11-8, the hard-hitting Arizona native is looking to reinsert himself into the title conversation with a win over one of the sport’s most unconventional and exciting fighters.

That man is Michael “Venom” Page (23-3), a former Bellator mainstay known for his explosive style and unpredictable striking. After years of dominating the Bellator welterweight scene, Page made his long-awaited UFC debut earlier this year—and didn’t disappoint. Moving up to middleweight for the first time, Page shocked the MMA world by defeating previously unbeaten Shara Magomedov in a standout performance, instantly becoming a name to watch in the UFC’s 185-pound division.

Page’s unique blend of athleticism and flash will be put to the test against Cannonier’s grit, power, and veteran savvy. While Cannonier brings knockout potential and a well-rounded skill set, Page counters with unorthodox footwork, sharp counters, and flair that has made him a fan favorite worldwide.

This pivotal middleweight bout joins a stacked UFC 319 card, headlined by a highly anticipated championship showdown between reigning middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis and undefeated contender Khamzat Chimaev. The event promises to deliver fireworks in Chicago, with the Cannonier vs. Page bout serving as a potential title eliminator depending on how the division shakes out later this year.

Both men have a lot riding on this matchup—Cannonier hopes to mount another run at gold before time catches up to him, while Page is looking to continue his rapid rise through the UFC ranks.

As Cannonier eyes a return to title contention and Page seeks to make a name for himself on the sport’s biggest stage, their August clash will be a must-watch for fans of the middleweight division.
