Javier Mendez to start a podcast with Cain Velasquez

Head coach of the American Kickboxing Academy Javier Mendez announced that he and Cain Velasquez will launch a podcast.

During his time with the UFC, Mendez coached Velasquez, a former heavyweight champion.

After spending eight months in jail on charges related to the attempted murder of an alleged child molester, Velasquez was recently freed on bail.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Mendez shared interesting information regarding his forthcoming partnership with Velasquez.

“I’m starting a podcast with Cain Velasquez,” Mendez said. “Wrestling, MMA, a discussion podcast. We don’t have the name yet, but we’re doing that soon.”

“I’m just throwing it out there because of marketing…I’m hoping it starts real soon because we just need a lawyer to take care of a few things with the name, and then we’re gonna start it.”

Velasquez is expected to refrain from talking about his trial and other specifics of his time in prison. He and Mendez, it appears, will concentrate on discussing MMA newsbits and hot subjects in professional wrestling.

Velasquez is not the first UFC fighter, past or present, to launch a podcast. However, his pending trial and his UFC accomplishments could result in a successful podcast with Mendez.

Velasquez will be back in court on March 8th for his attempted murder trial.
