Joan Guzmán

Joan Guzmán is a former professional boxer from the Dominican Republic who competed from 1997 to 2014. He held world championships in two weight classes, including the WBO super bantamweight title from 2002 to 2005, and the WBO junior lightweight title from 2006 to 2008. He also won a gold medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in the flyweight division. He had a record of 34 wins (21 by knockout), one loss, one draw, and one no contest in his career. He was known as “El Pequeño Tyson” (“The Little Tyson”) for his aggressive style and power. Some of his notable opponents include Agapito Sánchez, Humberto Soto, Khabib Allakhverdiev, and Ali Funeka.
