Khabib Nurmagomedov, the legendary former UFC champion, will retire from MMA more than two years after his surprise retirement.
Following the passing of his father and mentor, Abdulmanap, Khabib made the decision to stop competing at a perfect 29-0 record after winning, and defending the UFC lightweight championship.
Even though he was no longer participating, Khabib still managed to stay active in the sport by running his own Eagle FC MMA organisation and continuing his father's legacy by mentoring other Dagestani fighters, including the current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.
According to rumours, the former champion has made the decision to entirely retire from the MMA scene, which includes his roles as a coach and a promoter.
Khabib is reportedly considering selling Eagle FC to other parties after the team's attempt to establish itself in the western hemisphere seemed to fail.
Additionally, it is said that he will transfer the coaching responsibilities for those who are under his instruction, thereby ceasing to be an active participant in the sport.
