Khamzat Chimaev's Title Dilemma: A Fighter's Frustration with UFC 300 Hopes

Will Khamzat Chimaev get his title shot at UFC 300 ?
Left to Right: Khamzat Chimaev, Dana White, Dricus du Plessis

In the aftermath of UFC 297, Khamzat Chimaev finds himself caught in the crossfire of uncertainty, expressing frustration over the potential denial of a title shot at UFC 300. The undefeated and undisputed fighter has boldly voiced his disappointment with UFC CEO Dana White's recent comments, igniting a brewing controversy in the world of mixed martial arts.

Chimaev's aspiration to face Dricus du Plessis for the title following the latter's victory at UFC 297 seems to have hit a roadblock. In an interview with ESPN, Chimaev questioned,

"Who else is going to fight him? It’s only me who is undefeated and undisputed, so I don’t know. They promised me after the Usman fight that [I] will for sure fight for the title, and I won that fight. I don’t know what’s going on."

The frustration in Chimaev's words is palpable as he challenges White's statement, declaring,

"I heard Dana White said that, ‘I don’t think Khamzat is next for the title,’ that’s the bulls***, man."

The uncertainty surrounding Chimaev's health adds another layer to the situation. Following his UFC 294 win over Kamaru Usman, the fighter faced a health scare and a hand injury, raising questions about his readiness for UFC 300. White, while acknowledging Chimaev's recovery, expressed skepticism, stating,

"I know he was very, very sick, and I know he’s getting better, but I don’t know if he’s fight-at-300 better. We’ll see."

Undeterred, Chimaev remains adamant about his readiness for the historic UFC 300 event in Las Vegas. He emphasizes his commitment to keeping promises, stating,

"If you promised me something, you have to answer for your words, and I’m the guy who always answers for my words."

As the tension builds and the fate of the title shot hangs in the balance, Chimaev's plea resonates:

"In my mind, it should be me. I asked Hunter [Campbell] to let me fight at UFC 300, so we’ll see what they say."

As the MMA community awaits the unfolding drama, the question lingers – will Khamzat Chimaev get his shot at UFC 300, or will the narrative take an unexpected turn? Only time will reveal the next chapter in this gripping saga of aspirations, promises, and the relentless pursuit of championship glory.
