Charles Oliveira is set to defend his second lightweight title as he defeats Justin Gathage in UFC 274 on May 7. Many people are passionate about fighting because both men are known to have a very interesting style and never back down.
The two have very different styles when they fight Justin Gathage, known as a high-volume striker, and use Charles Oliveira as a threat to permanent recognition. UFC 274, however, would be a very impressive affair, thanks to Charles Oliveira.
Oliveira (32-8, 1 NC) scored his first defense of his 155-pound title at UFC 269 in December when he submitted to fan-favorite Dustin Poirier in the third round. Fighter of the Year runner-up has won 10 consecutive fights, including nine finals, with TKO's victory over Michael Chandler and Kevin Lee's claim to claim the empty lease.
Gaethje (23-3) is taking part in a fight against Chandler at UFC 268 on November 6 at the end of his 2021 Fight of the Year. Former UFC interim lightweight champion Gaethje has performed brilliantly in four of his last six events, winning with TKO. And the only blow was the title unification match between Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC 254, where he was submitted before the Russian announced his retirement.
While the co-main event has just been announced, Namajunas vs Esparza is ready for the co-main event of UFC 274, taking place on May 7 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Namajonas (11-4), who lives and trains in Colorado, will defend her second title after a technical knockout victory over Weili Zhang last April to claim her second UFC Championship. Namajunas, 29, defeated Zhang in her is first defense in a split decision in November.
Esparza (18-6) is on track to win five fights, most recently defeating Yan Xiaonan in a technical knockout last May. she is the No. 2 contender behind Zhang.
Namajonas and Esparza had previously met once in Octagon. Esparza was crowned the inaugural UFC Women's Straightweight Champion by winning the final of "The Ultimate Fighter 20" in December 2014.
Two of the most experienced guys on the roster will finally meet. Donald Cerrone will look for his first win in seven fights when he takes on Joe Lauzon, who is coming off a two-and-a-half year layoff. And in would could be a fight of the year candidate, Michael Chandler will meet Tony Ferguson.
