Logan Paul, the 26-year-old YouTube sensation and WWE star, has announced his retirement from boxing after defeating Dillon Danis in his last bout. Paul dominated Danis, a former Bellator fighter, for six rounds in Manchester, until Danis was disqualified for trying to take down and choke Paul. Danis appealed the result, but it is unlikely to change.
Paul, who had a long-standing feud with Danis, declined to face him again in an MMA match, despite agreeing to it before the fight. Paul said he had nothing left to prove in boxing, and that he was focusing on his professional wrestling career. He also claimed that he was undefeated in boxing, and that the sport was losing money.
“I think I’ve retired from boxing,” Paul told Fox Business in a recent interview. “I think I’ve done enough in this sport, going undefeated at 25-0. So yeah, I’m going to be a wrestler now. Yeah, there’s no more money in boxing, every company is going broke.”
He added, “Full-time wrestler. I beat Rey Mysterio, fair and square for the United States championship. It feels great, life feels different now… I feel good [retired].”
