UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler is keeping his options open for life after mixed martial arts—and those options may include the squared circle. The former Bellator champion and current UFC star recently revealed ongoing conversations with WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque, signaling serious interest in a potential professional wrestling stint.
Known for his charisma and fearless fighting style, Chandler has made a name for himself not only as a hard-hitting athlete, but also as a gifted speaker capable of captivating an audience. He has long been one of the UFC’s most vocal and marketable fighters, particularly since joining the promotion in 2020. While his run in the UFC has included ups and downs, Chandler’s ability to stir excitement has never wavered—and that’s a trait that could translate well to the world of sports entertainment.
In a recent statement, Chandler openly confirmed his aspirations:
“I was talking to Triple H about my WWE contract, so we’re trying to make that happen,” he said.“He knows I’m a fan of WWE and him and the brand. He’s obviously a fan of what I bring to the table from an entertainment standpoint, what I can do on the microphone. He knows I want that door to be open, and I think he wants that door to be open too.”
Chandler, who turns 40 next year, appears to be entering the final chapter of his competitive MMA career. Although he’s still expected to return for at least one more fight—possibly the long-anticipated clash with Conor McGregor—the window for UFC title contention is beginning to close.
Whether or not he captures UFC gold, Chandler’s star power and personality remain undeniable assets, making a potential crossover to WWE a natural progression.
Interestingly, this wouldn’t be his first brush with the WWE universe. Chandler made headlines in 2023 when he appeared on WWE television and issued a dramatic callout to McGregor, channeling the over-the-top energy that wrestling fans know well. That appearance, combined with his now-public negotiations with Triple H, shows that Chandler is not simply flirting with the idea—he’s actively pursuing it.
The crossover between MMA and pro wrestling has been well-established, with fighters like Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, and Matt Riddle successfully making the transition. Given Chandler’s microphone skills, athleticism, and flair for the dramatic, many believe he could be the next to follow in their footsteps. His intensity, promo delivery, and real-life fight credentials could make him a compelling addition to WWE’s roster, whether on Raw, SmackDown, or a major pay-per-view stage.
Still, for fans of Chandler the fighter, there’s hope that he competes at least once more in the Octagon. A final UFC bout could serve as the perfect sendoff before leaping into the entertainment world. Whether he ends his MMA run with a win or not, one thing is clear—Michael Chandler is far from done entertaining fans.
