Nate Diaz to Rematch Jorge Masvidal in Boxing Bout on June 1

UFC veterans Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are set to face off once again, this time in a 10-round pay-per-view boxing match on June 1 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The news was confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.

The rematch between Diaz and Masvidal comes after their previous encounter at UFC 244 in November 2019, where Masvidal emerged victorious via third-round TKO to claim the inaugural BMF belt. This time, the two fighters will step into the boxing ring, with the bout contested at 175 pounds.

Masvidal, who boasts a professional boxing record of one win from his 2005 bout against Joseph Benjamin, expressed confidence ahead of the rematch, stating, “Nate’s a dead man walking. I can’t wait to prove that last time was no fluke. He got saved by the referee. Now we are boxing, which he says is his forte, but he’s got no shot at beating me.”

Diaz, on the other hand, will be looking to redeem himself following a decision loss to Jake Paul in his boxing debut in August 2023. Despite the loss, Diaz remains a formidable opponent with a record of 21 wins and 13 losses in MMA, including victories over notable fighters such as Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, and Donald Cerrone.

The bout will be carried on pay-per-view by Fanmio for $79.99, with an early price of $49.99 available until April 12. It will be presented by the fighters’ promotional arms, Diaz’s Real Fight Inc. and Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing Promotions.

Both Diaz and Masvidal have left their mark on the UFC, with Diaz exiting the company in 2022 following a win over Tony Ferguson, while Masvidal retired from combat sports in April 2023 but is now making his comeback to the sweet science. Their rematch promises to be an exciting clash between two seasoned fighters with a score to settle.
