Back in the day when boxing was on the London Prize Ring Rules and the boxers would fight bare knuckle, they would condition parts of their bodies that boxers dont work on now a days. Back then boxers would condition their hands and knuckles and even their faces, putting them in a mixture of brine(cow urine), vinager, and sea salt. They would put that mixture everyday to thicken skin to resist cuts and hand injuries. They had their smelly way of doing things but it worked . It was a common practice back in the day. The great John L Sulivan would swear by it to tuffen him up before fights, he was the best heavyweight in his day.
