Two One World Championships were on the line at ONE: Lights Out at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday (March 11) and one title was retained, while another changed hands.
In the main event, Thanh Le defended his one-featherweight world title against # 2 contender Garry Tonon.
In the co-main event, # 1 contender John "Hands of Stone" Lineker defeated longtime King Bibiano "The Flash" Fernandes to win the One Bantamweight World title.
Speaking first of the main event, Le (13-2) retained its lightweight title when it knocked out Tonon (6-1) in the first round of the main event.
Tonon joined the promotion in 2018, a key signature from the leading Asian MMA promotion. His Jio Jitsu skills were famous. Towards the Lights Out, Tonen set a 6-0 record with three submissions, two TKOs, and a decision on his name.
Tonon backed up Le with a few high kicks and as soon as the pair were found, Tonon pulled the guard and started working for the leg lock. The orthopedic surgeon grabbed Lee's leg, but the decision backfired.
Lee was able to thwart his submission attempts before landing a brutal ground and pound, including a hard right hand and follow-up that turned off his light in less than a minute. Le gave Tonon the first loss of his professional career and received a $ 50,000 bonus at the end of his 56 seconds.
Thanh Le, meanwhile, was defending his first title since winning the title last year against Martin Nguyen.
Coincidentally, in the co-main event, Nguyen was also fighting on Friday's card with Kirill Gorobets. But the set for the main event was another title fight, much to be expected: Bibiano Fernandes vs. John Lineker.
Lineker, a former UFC contender, has been chasing gold since reaching the ONE Championship. Three consecutive wins earned him a shot against bantamweight champion Fernandes. The battle was first fought in December, then in February. Unfortunately, the second battle was not fought.
Lineker KO's spectacular victory came in the second round, when Lineker sent a left hook caring into Fernandes' head. Like Le, Lineker received a US $ 50,000 Performance Bonus for completing its Highlight Rail.
