The One Championship celebrated its 10th anniversary on Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in kallang, Singapore, with one of its best cards ever. It included 20 fight lineups to meet the expectations of combat sports fans. It included 11 MMA bouts and a special competition featuring one of the biggest MMA fighters ever.
ONE X promised and delivered an unforgettable event. The hours of martial arts action in the three amazing cards were as good as advertised.
At the main event, Atomweight Champion Angela Lee returned to defend her tile against Stamp Fairtex after a two-and-a-half year absence. And in the co-main event, former UFC flyweight champion Demetrius Johnson stepped into an unknown arena against muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the mixed rules set for the Muay Thai and MMA alternate rounds.
Also on the main card, flyweight champion Adriano Moraes held his title to the line against Yuya Wakamatsu, while Japanese legends Yoshihiro Akiyama and Shinya Aoki competed in the highly anticipated 170-pound match.
Let's take a look at the results of the ONE X Grand Final. First let's talk about the main event.
In the One Championship "One X" headliner, Angela Lee made her promotional comeback against Stamp Fairtex after taking a two-and-a-half-year maternity leave. Lee (11-2, 11-2 One) punched her opponent outside the gate and knocked off the cage. Stamp (8-2, 7-2 one) and waited for the right moment to retaliate with a liver pill that almost "stopped" where she was standing. When she was clearly in distress, Lee bit her face and escaped the resulting punches and kicks. In the second frame, Lee moved the action to the canvas as quickly as possible. Once there, she exhibited a submission weapon, including Triangle Square and a twister that almost sealed the deal for Evolve MMA's representative. Stamp's heart and collecting defense made a difference, but Lee made one last ace in her sleeve. In the final seconds of the round, Lee grabbed her opponent's back and knocked him out. She then punched her in the back bare knee to make his way easier. With only 10 seconds left, Lee persuaded her enemy to surrender, completing her first post since October 2019 and retaining her position as Divisional Queen.
In the co-man event, former Ultimate Fighting Championship 125-pound kingpin Demetrious Johnson defeated one-flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a customs roster. The first and third rounds were held in accordance with Thai rules, while rounds 2 and 4 included an MMA roll set. In the opening round, Jitmuangnon hunted his opponent with a variety of punches and physical kicks. Johnson, in turn, combined his attacks, but did not look for ease and resorted to clinching on several occasions. When "Mighty Mouse" fought on the hind legs for the first frame, he survived.
Round 2 meant a return to safe waters for Johnson, who pushed hard outside the gate and persuaded Jitmuangnon to remove him. Johnson's move forced his Thai rival to retreat against the fence, where "Mighty Mouse" jumped back and a few seconds later brought him to the canvas. Once Johnson took the position and drowned the hooks, he ended the tight-knit attempt from behind. Jitmuangnon initially resisted, but to no avail. Ultimately, he preferred to pass out rather than tap. The official time to stop in the second round was 2:13.
