Paddy Pimblett, fresh off his recent win, is weighing his options for a UFC return and has set his sights on a possible clash with Renato Moicano. Pimblett (22-3) made a significant mark at UFC 304 in July, where he submitted King Green in the first round, earning himself a spot in the top 15 lightweight rankings and a $200,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
Now, "The Baddy" is eyeing Moicano (19-5-1), who will headline UFC Fight Night 243 this weekend in Paris against Benoit Saint-Denis. Pimblett and Moicano have had their fair share of verbal exchanges and expressed mutual interest in facing each other in the octagon. While Pimblett remains eager for the matchup, he acknowledged that timing might push the fight into 2025.
Speaking at Cage Warriors 178, where he was supporting his Next Generation MMA teammates, Pimblett shared his thoughts on his next bout:
“I have no idea at the minute. I think the only card that I could fight on is December again in Vegas, but nothing’s been said at the minute. I know Moicano’s fighting (this) week, can’t see him coming back soon enough for December, so could end up being next year, early next year.”
Despite fighting three times in 2022, Pimblett has only been inside the cage twice since then. His most recent fights include a dominant decision victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 296 in December 2023 and his submission of Green in July 2024. While his return timeline remains uncertain, Pimblett's ambition and growing status in the UFC have fans eager to see him back in action soon.
Pimblett's potential bout with Moicano, a fellow top contender, could be a high-stakes matchup, possibly positioning the winner for a title shot soon. For now, fans will have to wait until Moicano's next fight and Pimblett's decision on his return.
