Patchy Mix Stays Sharp at ADXC 6, Eyes Leandro Higo and Future Challenges

Bellator bantamweight champion Patchy Mix remains focused on defending his title against Leandro Higo, even as he takes on other opportunities to stay active. Initially scheduled to meet Higo in the Bellator Championship Series main event in Paris on November 16, Mix’s title defense was delayed when the event was canceled.

However, the 20-1 champion isn’t letting the hiatus slow him down; Mix is set to face former ONE Championship titleholder Kairat Akhmetov in a no-gi grappling match at ADXC 6 this Friday. While preparing for this grappling bout, Mix made it clear that Higo is still firmly in his sights.

“I want to stay active, and just because I’m staying active does not mean Leandro Higo is off the hook,” Mix stated. Confident of a swift victory when the fight is rescheduled, he added, “When they rebook this, he will be done in two rounds, and I’m hoping he’s watching me this weekend.”

Although there’s no set date yet, Mix anticipates the title fight could be rebooked for early next year.

In the meantime, Mix is prepared to defend his belt against any worthy contender, including former foe Raufeon Stots, who recently called for a rematch following his impressive submission win over Marcos Breno. Mix emphasized his readiness to take on the best in the division, saying,

“I want them all, every one of them. You can send anybody, but you can’t send anyone you want back.”

Amidst ongoing speculation regarding Bellator’s future, with PFL co-founder Donn Davis suggesting that Bellator may no longer exist by 2025, Mix remains optimistic about upcoming high-level fights, whether in Bellator or elsewhere. He expressed enthusiasm about potential matchups with PFL’s top fighters, including Brendan Loughnane, the 2022 PFL featherweight champion.

“As long as I keep getting these big fights, like there’s humongous names over there at PFL that I personally like,” Mix remarked. “But no matter what it is, I’m just excited for the future.”

Mix, confident and driven, reiterated his mission to prove his claim as the world’s top bantamweight. He concluded,

“I’m in the prime of my career, and I just want to prove to the world what I know, and that’s I’m the best 135-pound bantamweight walking in the world today, right now.”
