The second half of the 2022 season of the Professional Fighters League, PFL 5, aired live on Friday, June 24 from the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and on Saturday, June 25 in Australia. The fight card includes a series of bouts in the heavyweight and featherweight classes, as well as the final lightweight bout in the elimination rounds.
In the heavyweight event, Season 3 champions Bruno Cappelloza and Matheus Scheffel will face off in a regular-season fight as they both try to collect points for the post-season. Cappelloza is unbeaten in five PFL matches, while Scheffel 's goal is to win his first PFL.
In the co-main event, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis of the United States met Stevie Ray of Scotland in the lightweight event. Also on the card, in a heavyweight fight between Renan Ferreira and Klidson Abreau, Chris Wade meets Kyle in Featherweight.
This year's PFL 5 card was even more notable when all of a sudden, on the night of the event, just a few hours before the event, a whole bunch of five fighters was replaced, with a few former UFC heavyweights stepping on short notice. ۔ They were Juan Adams, the winner of a Contender series, and Maurice Greene, who joined the promotion through TUF 28.
Also on short notice on Friday was Ago Huskic, who fight with fan-favorite Brendan Loughnane, Shelton Graves, Heavyweight and Ante Delija's heavy underdog, and Reinaldo Ekson, a tough wrestler in Bubba Jenkins.
Fighters with short notice will need a big, quick finish to have any hope after the season.
