The PFL Challenger series returns to action at Universal Studios, with the PFL Challenger Series 3 on Friday, March 4, 2022, featuring four thrilling and action-packed fights in the women's lightweight division.
The PFL Challenger series actually bears a striking resemblance to the format of the UFC's Dana White's Contender Series. Challenger series fighters will fight for a place in the PFL's 2022 regular season.
Currently, the PFL women's lightweight division is dominated by Kayla Harrison (12-0), who is considered by many to be one of the best female fighters on the planet.
But with that, Kayla Harrison's future is still in the air - both PFL and Bellator MMA were at the forefront of her free agent swap stack. It will be interesting to see if Challenger Series manages to bring some exciting new possibilities for the division's future.
The main match of the PFL Challenger Series 3 was a tough contest between Martina Jindrova (3-2) and Jacqueline Cavalcanti (2-0).
In the main contest, Jindrova's match with Jacqueline remained on the hype before the Cavalcanti fight and covered three rounds. The judges awarded Jindrova victory in a narrow division decision. Jindrova is now awaiting a regular PFL season with a contract in the highly competitive women's lightweight division.
Mishelle competed against Julia Dorny and quickly finished with a first-round TKO. Mishelle, who has previously won three separate amateur MMA titles, made a strong impression in her professional career.
Jackie Caitlin competed against Camee Adams in the main event. Catalin continued the trend of dramatic completion, finishing the competition with the first-round submission. "The Hybrid" is a two-time US Open wrestling champion and began his MMA career with commanding performances.
Kicking the women's lightweight card, Michelle Montague wasted no time in her professional debut against Olivia Parker and came out victorious by submission in the first round. The Kiwi competed with an amateur record of 11-2 and continued their winning streak with a rear naked choke behind to end the bout.
