Remembering Ike Quartey.


Ike Quartey’s boxing career was a remarkable one that spanned from 1988 to 2006. He was a former professional boxer from Ghana who held the WBA welterweight title from 1994 to 1998, and challenged for the IBF junior-middleweight title in 2000. He was known for his powerful jab, durability, and resilience in the ring. He faced some of the best fighters of his era, such as Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas, and Vernon Forrest. He retired with a record of 37 wins (31 by knockout), 4 losses, and 1 draw. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers from Africa and one of the best welterweights of the 1990s.
