Rising 21-year-old Amateur MMA fighter Shalie Lipp dead

Shalie Lipp, an amateur MMA fighter, lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision on Sunday near Moorhead, Minnesota.

Lipp was a passenger in a 2015 Chevy Malibu when it collided with another car on the Red River Bridge, which borders North Dakota, according to Minnesota police.

All other parties involved in the collision were unharmed, leaving Lipp as the solitary casualty. Investigation revealed that Lipp was not using a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The 21-year-old Lipp was regarded by many as one of the Midwest's most promising female MMA prospects. On May 20, she was supposed to make a comeback to the ring to face Natalie Gauge at No Mercy 11.

Lipp participated in the Compass Fight Series and OFC, earning a 3-2 amateur MMA record. Before losing to Cheyanne Bowers in March 2022, she won her first two amateur fights.

Lipp's crash is currently under investigation. It's unclear whether or not authorities have concluded that alcohol or other drugs played a role in the collision.
