Robbie Lawler to face Niko Price in his last fight at UFC 290

The legendary career of "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler is coming to a close.

Lawler is scheduled to meet Niko Price on July 8 at UFC 290. It'll be the final time the former UFC Welterweight Champion will step inside the Octagon as a competitor. UFC President Dana White made the announcement in a video on Rumble.

"Lawler will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on Thursday, [July 6], for his fight versus Rory McDonald, then he fights on Saturday. Robbie is the former UFC and Strikeforce world champion and this kid is never in a boring fight. I found Robbie Lawler when he was 19 years old, and UFC 290 will be the final fight of his amazing 22-year career."

Lawler will end his career with a total of 47 pro MMA bouts. While White referred to "Ruthless" as a former Strikeforce champion, he never actually won the gold under that promotion. He is, however, a former EliteXC Middleweight Champion.

It's been tough sledding for Lawler towards the end of his career, going 2-6 in his last eight outings. He'll look to put an end to his pro MMA career with a vintage performance.
