Bernard Hopkins Jr. (born January 15, 1965) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2016. He is one of the most successful boxers of the past three decades, having held multiple world championships in two weight classes, including the undisputed middleweight title from 2001 to 2005, and the lineal light heavyweight title from 2011 to 2012.
In a professional boxing career spanning 28 years and two months, Bernard Hopkins fought 67 times with 55 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws. By his last professional fight on December 17, 2016, Hopkins' record stood at 55-8-2 (32 KO wins, 1 KO loss).
Hopkins was involved in street crime as a teenager, and at age 17 he was convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to prison. He served 56 months, during which time he took up boxing, and after his release on parole in 1988, he maintained a clean record.
