šŸ”„ THE PRESSURE BEHIND CANELO’S 2018 FIGHT WASN’T IN THE RINGĀ šŸ”„

Canelo Opens Up About Cartel kidnapping

In 2018, just days before stepping into Madison Square Garden, Canelo Ɓlvarez was fighting a battle no one knew about. One of his brothers had been kidnapped in Mexico — and instead of going to the authorities, Canelo handled it himself.

For three days straight, while still in camp, he was on the phone negotiating directly with the kidnappers to secure his brother’s release. No team. No police. No public knowledge.Just Canelo, carrying a nightmare alone.

ā€œI negotiated everything for his release. For three days I was on the phone with those people so they would let him go.ā€

He said afterward that he kept imagining if it had been his daughter, his mother, or his father — and still, that same week, he was expected to perform under the lights.

And he did.

Canelo walked into MSG and stopped Rocky Fielding in three rounds.

People talk about pressure in boxing. This is what real pressure looks like.
