Tom Aspinall ready to box if UFC doesn’t give him a fight

Tom Aspinall, the UFC interim heavyweight champion, is open to boxing if he doesn’t get a cage fight. The Brit came back last month at UFC 295 and faced Sergei Pavlovich. He took the fight on short notice after Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic was called off. He won the interim title fight by knocking out his opponent in the first round. Tom Aspinall has been outspoken about his plans. He thinks the UFC should take away the undisputed title from Jon Jones. He wants to fight Miocic first, and then Jones when he recovers from his injury.

But if the UFC doesn’t give Tom Aspinall a fight, he would like to try boxing. He talked about it in a recent interview with Fight Disciples. He used to train with Tyson Fury, and he thinks he can do well in the ring. “Let’s do it,” he said when asked about boxing in the future. “I want to be active in MMA, I’m healthy. I’ll do that for sure, if the UFC allows it. I think it’s a good idea, I like it a lot. I’ll do that.”

He added, “I’ll do that, if they ask me to do that, I’ll do it. But I want to be active. I was out for a year with a knee injury and stuff. I’ve come back, and I think I’ve looked pretty good in my last two fights. I’m in a really good place right now, let’s keep it going.”
“I don’t want to wait for Jon Jones. Who knows if he’ll come back or not?.. I’ll fight another contender, or we’ll do one of those. That’s a great idea.”
