He was an Olympic boxer, a world champion, he beat Muhammad Ali, he signed with Don King, he was arrested, deported and years later assassinated, that was the life of Trevor Berbick.
Berbick, born in Jamaica in 1954, was a Pan-American medalist in 1975, attended the 1976 Olympics, losing in the second round.
As a professional his greatest achievements were the victory over Muhammad Ali, and winning the WBC world title defeating Pinklon Tomas.
He faced great and historical boxers like Larry Holmes, Myke Tyson, Buster Douglas among others.
He had several problems with the law, he was arrested for sexually abusing his children's nanny and was later deported. On October 28, 2006, Berbick was murdered in front of a church, he died from blows to the head with a steel tube, one of the murderers was his nephew who was arrested. Sad end to an ex world champion.
