UFC 275 Results: Valentina Shevchenko defeats Taila Santos (Highlights)

UFC 275: Teixeira vs. Prochazka took place on June 11 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Kallang, Singapore. Today's show will feature two title fights and an epic rematch at the top. In the headliner, Jiri Prochazka defeated Glover Teixeira to capture the light heavyweight title. Participating women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defended her title for the seventh time by defeating Taila Santos by a unanimous decision.


Shevchenko (23-3) defeated Brazilian Tilla Santos (19-2) in a split decision in the main event of the UFC 275. , While one-third beat Santos 48-47. Shevchenko has lost since moving from 135 pounds to 125 pounds in 2018.


Meanwhile, Taila Santos (19-1 MMA) got her shot at Flyweight Gold in the first round against Joanne Wood at UFC Vegas 43. The victory marked the end of Brazil's current unbeaten streak.


A favorite of the betting, Shevchenko struggled from the first round. She made a mistake in the initial clinch when she dropped her back while trying to remove the fence. Santos, 28, took advantage of the mistake by locking herself in a physical triangle. she threatened to kill Shevchenko several times from behind, but Shevchenko defended well.


The fights in the second and third rounds were fiercely competitive as Santos scored several takedowns and showed good fighting skills in the Scramble. Throughout the fight, he extended the control time to 8:49, but her offense was limited to those positions. Shevchenko attacked more aggressively, but Santos' ability to control positions was astonishing, given the sheer dominance of Shevchenko there.


The fourth round of the UFC 275 co-host event begins and Valentina Shevchenko heads the kick. The heads collide and the challenger is cut off. Her eye is now badly swollen. Shevchenko strikes at it with a good combination. She's fine now and she's punching. Taila Santos hangs in there but this is Valentina's best time ever. Santos with late removal. At the end of Round Four comes the sound of the horn.


The fifth stage of the UFC 275 co-headliner begins and Valentina Shevchenko lands on the hard right hook. Taila Santos is on a quick take down and she's got it. The bullet could hit her right at her feet. She wanders and descends on a great truth which astonishes the challenger. Shevchenko shoots and takes off. she has two minutes to work. Not much action but the champion maintains top control and takes rounds easily.

Judges Howard Hughes and David Lethaby scored 48-47, while Clemens Werner scored Fight 49-46 to Shevchenko. Werner's score drew the ire of some vocal members of the MMA community, with Casey O'Neill, a UFC flyweight contender, saying the judge should be fired.
