On the most Mexican date of the year is when the IBF Featherweight World Champion, Luis Alberto "Venado" Lopez will be defending his world title.
It will be on September 15 at a venue yet to be confirmed, where Lopez will seek to make his second defense against Joet Gonzalez. Negotiations for that fight are 80-85% advanced, as reported by the manager of the world champion, Kiki Magaña.
Venado Lopez obtained the world title beating Josh Warrington and made his first defense against Michael Conlan.
This will be Joet's third opportunity to be world champion, after losing to Shakur Stevenson and Emanuel Vaquero Navarrete, on both occasions he challenged for the WBO world featherweight title.
