AFTER CHIMAEV’S DOMINATION AT UFC 308

In a breathtaking show of sheer power and precision, Khamzat Chimaev dismantled former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a first-round submission victory at UFC 308. Held at the iconic Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 26, 2024, this clash was nothing short of electrifying.

Chimaev (14-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) wasted no time, securing a lightning-fast takedown within the opening 20 seconds. From the get-go, it was a masterclass in dominance. Whittaker (27-8 MMA, 17-6 UFC) found himself in survival mode as Chimaev transitioned with surgical precision, hunting for a rear-naked choke.

The atmosphere crackled with tension as Whittaker, renowned for his grit and resilience, fought tooth and nail to fend off Chimaev’s relentless onslaught. But Chimaev, living up to his "Borz" moniker, proved unstoppable. He applied a face crank with crushing force, leading to a gruesome moment where Whittaker's front teeth visibly shifted. The tap came at 3:34 of Round 1, ending the bout in spectacular fashion.

In the post-fight chaos, Chimaev confirmed he heard a sickening "click" as he cranked Whittaker's jaw, hinting at a potential dislocation. Whittaker’s frantic tap signaled not just defeat but a brutal reminder of the unforgiving nature of the octagon.

Chimaev, now with scalps of two former UFC champions, didn’t mince words in his post-fight interview, staking his claim for a shot at the middleweight title. His call was clear: the belt must be next.
