- Dominick Cruz Retires from MMA After Withdrawing from UFC Seattle
Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has officially announced his retirement from mixed martial arts after being forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Rob Font at UFC Seattle due to injury. The bout was set to mark Cruzâs return to the Octagon after more than two years on the sidelines, but persistent health issues have once again derailed his plans. Cruz, a former WEC and UFC bantamweight champion, is widely considered one of the greatest bantamweights in MMA history. His unique footwork, high fight IQ, and dominant performances made him a legend in the sport. However, injuries plagued his career, forcing him to endure long periods of inactivity. Over the years, he has undergone multiple surgeries, including procedures for a torn ACL, a torn groin muscle, a broken arm, and most recently, two shoulder dislocations. These setbacks ultimately prevented him from stepping into the cage one last time. One of the biggest blows to Cruzâs career came in 2014 when he was forced to vacate his UFC bantamweight title after being sidelined for nearly three years. However, in a remarkable comeback, he reclaimed the championship in 2016, becoming the first two-time bantamweight champion in UFC history. Despite his resilience and determination, injuries continued to take their toll. Cruz last competed at UFC San Diego in 2022, where he suffered a knockout loss to Marlon âChitoâ Vera. With a professional record of 24-4, he leaves behind a legacy defined by his technical brilliance, championship reigns, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Reflecting on his career, Cruz acknowledged that while injuries have shaped his journey, they will not define his legacy. âThe Dominatorâ walks away from the sport as one of the most respected fighters in MMA history.

- Jon Jones Joins the Fight for Healthcare Transparency
Jon Jones Jon Jonesâ âHuge Announcementâ Isnât a Fight, But a Fight for Healthcare Transparency But the announcement wasnât about octagon action. Instead, Jones revealed a new partnership with Power to the Patients , a nonprofit organization advocating for transparency and fairness in the American healthcare system. The campaign is focused on combating the hidden costs and inflated pricing that push countless Americans into medical debt. âWhile this may not be a traditional fight for me, itâs obvious that too many Americans are being hurt and forced into medical debt or bankruptcy by a healthcare system so greedy that hospitals and insurers hide their actual prices so they can charge us whatever they want,â Jones, 37, wrote in a heartfelt statement. Jonesâ passion for the cause is personal. In his announcement, he criticized the lack of pricing transparency in healthcare, labeling it as âdishonestâ and a symptom of corporate greed. âThe âestimatesâ are bullsh*t, and the corporate greed in American healthcare is breaking people and families across the United States,â Jones said. He emphasized the fear and hesitation many in his own community feel about seeking care, knowing they could face financial ruin. âTime to hold these healthcare bullies accountable. Power to the people. Power to the Patients.â Fans Want the Aspinall Fight While Jonesâ foray into advocacy is noble, itâs unlikely to appease fight fans hungry for action. The MMA world is buzzing for a showdown between Jones and Aspinall, a matchup that could unify the heavyweight titles and bring clarity to the division. The UFC has been eyeing Jones vs. Aspinall for International Fight Week in July, but so far, no contracts have been signed. The delay has led to growing frustration among fans, especially after Jonesâ recent absence from competition due to a pec injury suffered ahead of his planned clash with Stipe Miocic. For fans, the heavyweight division feels stalled. Aspinallâs dominant win over Sergei Pavlovich to claim the interim belt has only heightened the demand for a unification bout. Balancing Advocacy and Legacy Jonesâ involvement with Power to the Patients  highlights a different side of the fighter, one committed to tackling issues beyond the cage. However, for a champion whose legacy is defined by his dominance in the octagon, fans are eager for him to prioritize the sport that made him a household name. While advocacy is commendable, it wonât quiet the criticism from impatient fight fans who want Jones to do what he does bestâdefend his throne and cement his legacy as the greatest heavyweight of all time. For now, Jonesâ announcement might be a win for healthcare reform, but the real victory fans want to see lies in the octagon, with Jones standing across from Tom Aspinall. Until then, the wait continues. FIGHT.TV is here for it!

Du Plessis stirred the pot on social media, insinuating that Strickland might be carrying a staph infection into their fight. But Strickland, never one to shy away from a verbal war, responded with a characteristic mix of humor and bravado. On Wednesday, du Plessis posted a side-by-side comparison of Strickland from their previous encounter and his current fight week appearance, quipping, âWhat? He grew taller and added staph infection to his arsenal. Oh shit.â The jab quickly gained traction online, leading to speculation about Stricklandâs health heading into the rematch. When asked directly about the allegations during the UFC 312 pre-fight press conference, Strickland delivered a fiery response that left no room for doubt. âListen you motherf ckers, Iâm immune to staph,â Strickland shouted. âYou see this f cking mustache? His focus is entirely on Saturdayâs rematch and settling the score with du Plessis. Ready to Rumble Far from being derailed by the accusations, Strickland appears laser-focused and more motivated than ever.
