- Israel Adesanya Calls for Judges to Be Interviewed After Controversial UFC Vegas 74 Main Event
In the aftermath of the UFC Vegas 74 main event, Israel Adesanya, the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion, has come out swinging in defense of his teammate Kai Kara-France. The fight, which pitted Kara-France against Amir Albazi, ended in a highly controversial decision that left many fans and pundits scratching their heads. Two out of the three judges scored the fight in favor of Albazi, a decision that most fight fans felt was unjust. Adesanya wasted no time in expressing his frustration, taking to Twitter to voice his opinion and propose a potential solution to the ongoing issue of judging in combat sports. "The Last Stylebender" didn't hold back in his criticism, specifically targeting judges Chris Lee and Sal D'Amato, both of whom scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Albazi. Adesanya called for MMA judges to be put on the spot and interviewed after fights, aiming to shed light on their decision-making process and hold them accountable for their scoring. Controversial judging has been a persistent issue in combat sports, with frequent debates surrounding the accuracy and fairness of judges' decisions. Athletes, fight fans, and promoters have all called for a resolution to this problem, as it continues to mar the reputation of the sport. The UFC, known for its high volume of events, often finds itself in the crosshairs of such controversies. While athletic commissions have traditionally stood behind their judges, Adesanya's vocal criticism may contribute to a shift in the landscape. By calling for transparency and accountability, the champion is pushing for a system that ensures judges are held to a higher standard and are answerable for their scoring. As the sport continues to grow, and the UFC remains at the forefront of mixed martial arts, the need for reliable and consistent judging becomes increasingly vital. Adesanya's demand for post-fight interviews with judges could provide a platform for valuable insights and an opportunity to address concerns, ultimately working toward fairer outcomes and restoring faith in the scoring process.
- Teenage Russian MMA fighter dies after a fatal head blow
The MMA community was recently rocked by devastating news from Russia, in which an unidentified 16-year-old competitor died after being struck in the head with a fatal blow. Youngsters frequently fight in amateur MMA matches in some parts of the world. These competitions usually include adapted rules and safety measures to protect the wellbeing of the young competitors. However, even while these laws exist, they may not always be followed, especially in areas with weak government oversight. Unfortunately, this error led to disastrous outcomes during a mixed martial arts competition in Belogorsk, Russia's Amur region. A 16-year-old participant in the Rodina Sports Club's Open MMA Cup reportedly passed away in the hospital after being admitted for intensive care following the loss. It's important to note that amateur mixed martial arts combatants in this region between the ages of 16 and 18 are required by law to wear protective headgear. The referee and the event coordinator had apparently agreed when the young fighter who tragically lost his life asked if he might compete without a helmet. The Russian MMA Union has launched an investigation into the causes of this incident.

- Terrence Crawford hoping to end Pound for Pound debate after beating Errol Spence
Terence Crawford, who is young, cocky, and full of bravado, originally showed little interest in the pound-for-pound debate. His one and only goal in life was to win the world championship. However, the now 35-year-old saw his name appear on that list after repeatedly crossing that objective off. As Crawford continued to crush his opponents, pride would eventually set in. The Omaha, Nebraska native is now confident that he and he alone should be regarded as the best boxer on the planet after dominating three different weight classes. However, his mental process is just speculation. Although those fabled rankings change, Crawford gets upset when Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, and other competitors are placed higher than him. Crawford respects each person's abilities and achievements as a whole, as well as the rankings' creators' judgements, but he has a sneaking suspicion that in about two months, his name will be a permanent spot on everyone's list. On July 29th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Crawford (39-0, 30 KOs) will officially square off against fellow welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. To a large extent, Spence is considered a dominant fighter and pound-for-pound star in his own right. The skilled switch-hitter has been listening to his detractors trash his resume for years. If Crawford wins on July 29, he believes that his critics will be lying if they say that he isn't the finest fighter in the world. âItâs just chatter,â said Crawford to MMA Fighting on SBN when asked about his position on the pound-for-pound list. "Some people have their preferences of who they feel is number one pound-for-pound but after July 29th, there will be no discussion or no conversation on who the number one pound-for-pound fighter is.â
- UFC set to return to France later this year
The UFC will return to France's capital after a successful maiden trip there in September of last year. In 2022, the UFC made its debut in Paris, with 15,405 MMA fans packing the Accor Arena for a highly anticipated card that more than delivered. In almost exactly one year, the organisation will continue to arrange events for the French fan community. The official Accor Arena social media account on Monday appeared to confirm the long-rumored return of the promotion to Paris. The second UFC Fight Night in the city will take place on September 2, it was announced in a post. The UFC's maiden event in France undoubtedly gave the nation's expanding mixed martial arts fanbase an appropriate introduction to Octagon action. That was partly due to the main event, in which hometown favourite Ciryl Gane defeated heavyweight entertainer Tai Tuivasa via knockout in a thrilling Fight of the Night battle. A report conducted by research firm Applied Analysis indicated that UFC Paris had brought in $33.4 million for the city.
- Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua could be in the works for August 12
Anthony Joshua remains on course for a summertime return. The priority for his team is to revisit past business. Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that an offer has been submitted to former title challenger Dillian Whyte for a proposed August 12 rematch with Joshua. Hearnâs Matchroom Boxing has the date reserved for the former two-time unified heavyweight titlist, who is also in talks to face former WBC heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder in December. "Our plan, which we've stressed, is for AJ to box on 12 August and in December again against Deontay," Hearn told BBC Sport, who was first to reveal the news. âThe negotiations will be difficult but both AJ and Whyte want the fight." Should Whyte accept an offer, the fight would be a rematch of their December 2015 encounter, which Joshua won by knockout in the seventh round at The O2 Arena in London. One fight later, in April 2016, also at The O2, Watford's Joshuaâa 2012 Olympic gold medallist for Great Britain and rising contender at the timeâwon his first major title by knocking out undefeated IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin in the second round. While a rematch would also serve as a non-title fight, it is still a big fight on the domestic level. "Dillian has a lot of value in the rematch. This is not an opponent for Joshua, but a big fight between two world-class heavyweights and huge British names.â

Dimitri Bivol's mĂĄnager stated that he really believes the Canelo team does not want rematch because they offer same terms just as the first fight, same money, same conditions. He also said how can that be if Canelo lost and he is the one who wants the rematch, thats just stupid on their part. So they will now only concentrate on a unification fight against Artur Beterbiev.

I will make Tyson Fury vs Jon Jones fight in the octagon. And we figured out how to pay Floyd, weâll figure out how to pay you Tyson. So the offer is out there. - Claressa Shields defeats Maricela Cornejo to remain undefeated
In winning against Maricela Cornejo in Detroit, Claressa Shields claims she gave her "best" performance for the home crowd. On Saturday, the undisputed middleweight champion overcame her fellow American by a resounding unanimous decision. With a score of 100-89 on one card and 100-90 on the other two, the 28-year-old won at the Little Caesars Arena. "You saw the best of me tonight, the only thing I could have done better... was get a knockout," she said. "I think I would have knocked a lot of girls out with the punches I landed. Maricela is smart and she's tough." Shields was supposed to face Hanna Gabriels, who knocked her to the ground in 2018 before losing a decision. Cornejo agreed to the fight with only a week's notice after the Costa Rican failed a drug test and was disqualified from competing. Shields, a two-time Olympic champion, has now prevailed in all 14 of her professional contests, and Cornejo, the woman she defeated, was effusive in her congrats. "You've created a movement in women's boxing, and you really are the GWOAT [greatest woman of all time]," she said. After a competitive first round, Shields cut Cornejo over his right eye in the fifth round and went on to dominate the rest of the fight. After winning, Shields declared that she wants to next compete against Savannah Marshall or Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
