  • Cops Should Take BJJ

A recent video has gone viral of a young man helping a police officer arrest someone while they were resisting. The cop was obviously struggling so the BJJ student stepped in and even told the officer what to do. This was in San Antonio, Texas. The student in the video trains at House of Jiujitsu Academy in downtown San Antonio. This man is Mark Gonzales. It's a little concerning when a guy whose a grappler by hobby is having to instruct a peace officer whose daily work involves this regularly. It's got a lot of folks thinking. Should BJJ be mandatory for cops? Some jiujitsu gyms sponsor cops for free classes. Some argue that if cops were more well trained it would result in less injury for officers and citizens. Maybe even might save a life! Fight.TV wants to know. What do you think? Should cops train jiujitsu?

  • Sean Strickland Wasn't Joking. He Really Wants To Kill People

So basically Sean Strickland's buddy was picking at him about a tweet Sean deleted and this unfolded. Sean makes it very clear with statements like - "you're just a baby lamb put on this earth to be eaten." And "if me and you met up and I had one free pass, I'd take your soul." What kind of medieval biblical smack talk is Sean Strickland laying on this man? I feel like Sean Strickland is a Baptist preacher and I'm stuck in sermon at the front and he keeps pointing to me, telling me what the devil is gonna do to me. Sean Strickland is like the Silverback you encounter on a safari, but on Twitter. Steve Erwin accent and everyone - "be very careful, don't make eye contact. He'll get very angry." So yeah. Good thing Mr. Strickland has pursued a career in violence because otherwise I can't really see what this guy might be happy doing. Besides maybe being a butcher or a creepy graveyard grounds keeper. Fight.TV wants to know what you think Sean Strickland would be doing for a career if combat sports didn't exist. Share and comment what you think! Also maybe best to avoid him after you do.

  • Israel Adesanya Got Knocked Out By This man, and He's Coming To The UFC.

Alex Peirera isn't as widely known as Israel because he's fought for promotions other than the UFC but he's still one of the best pound for pound ranked fighters in the world and in the top of his weightclass. Alex knocked out Israel in a kickboxing bout in 2017. The only person to ever do so and he may be signing with the UFC soon. This would most certainly be a main card fight and one the fans would love. Alex Peirera is one hell of a fighter and the UFC spotlight could really showcase him to the rest of the world outside the immediate fight community. Do you think Peirera should be allowed to challenge Israel on his UFC debut or should he have to climb ranks in the promotion? Who would be a good first MMA fight for Alex Peirera? • Big John McCarthy On Gable Stevenson Leads To Twitter Rabbit Hole

Big John McCarthy has found himself at the end of professional wrestling fans swords. He was making a statement about recent Olympic wrestling phenom Gable Stevenson's pondering over a career in WWE or UFC and said - "Yeah it’s been done before, but ask Kurt what’s a regret he has & not competing in MMA would be one. Don’t take great athletiç ability and all those years of training and throw them away to be a stuntman that loses when the boss says you lose. You can always do fake stuff later." WWE & fight fans didn't take too kindly to hearing Big John call their beloved pass time fake. After many comments and some exchanged words Big John came back out and said "You are absolutely right, when I say fake, I am not talking about the bumps and falls and all of the athleticism it takes to do what is done in Pro Wrestling. I am talking about Pre-Determined outcomes, where true talent can take a back seat to a whim.. I stand corrected" We forgive you Big John, the outcomes of professional wrestling are fake and you can acknowledge that fact while simultaneously respecting professional wrestling and it's athleticism / showmanship. • Michael Gioe Perseveres With Jiujitsu

Michael, Mike, coach, or professor as most of us call him is a father of 4, friend to many, and badass jiujitsu coach. I've trained under some really cool people Like 10th Planet's Kendell Madden the same time frame he was training Shane Carwin for the Brock Lesnar UFC heavyweight title bout or James Sisco, former kickboxing world champion and martial arts hall of famer. Mike is right up on par with these dudes and anybody that wanted world class grappling training from a real jiujitsu blackbelt, will do good under Mike. His students are always killers at competitions and usually take home the W. Mike helped me a lot outside of Jiujitsu. When I was my grandmother's caregiver during the daytime and struggled to work / make ends meet. Mike got me a job throwing newspaper's at night so I could take care of my grandma in the daytime. Here is his summarized story in his own words - "September being Childhood Cancer Awareness month, I sit back and think of my journey. I first started in 1999 in Lynbrook Long Island. I moved there to go to Nassau Community College. I started my first class with Matt "The Terror" Serra. At the time he lived Rodrigo Gracie. I thought it was soo cool... I was in awe of him. About 1.5-2 later I moved... that's when I met Rogerio "Tatu" Taborda... He is my mentor..my professor. He awarded me black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. During those years... I trained Sambo and Muay Thai Kickboxing under my friend James Simrell... another amazing grappler, and striker...also an amazing friend and Jeweler... we used to laugh about how the man who would choke us unconscious and punch us in the face would go home and make beautiful fine pieces of jewelry at night. As the years go by I have my family... still training and very happy...my daughter.. my first born gets diagnosed with Brain cancer... I stopped training and dedicate my time to be with my daughter and family. After about 7 months in the hospital we are back home ans chemo is starting. I need a job that would be flexible.. with the support of my wife at the time she suggest open a school. That was the birth of School of Combat Arts. After the death of my daughter we decide to move...we moved to florida.. Now living in florida our team is still going strong... we have a small school and I meet some amazing friends and students. But life throws some curve balls and it's never easy... Divorce... sucks and is sad.. but luckily for me I have some amazing friends who support me and who are always there. I am so grateful for the people that I have met and to those that I have lost through this journey so far... even if we don't see each other everyday... or anymore... I still love and care about you. You helped mold me into the person and helped grow this thing that I have dedicated my life to. " If you're ever in Northwest Florida and want to train, go give Mike a visit at The School of Combat Arts in Niceville. Fight.TV salutes you Mike and your love of jiujitsu!

Joe Rogan is no stranger to hard hitting opinions. Sometimes they land him in hot water, other times he gets praise but regardless he's not afraid to speak his mind and that's why many love him. He recently had to change the date of a comedy show around the corner and went on social media to explain why - "I got back from the road Saturday night feeling very weary. I had a headache and I just felt just rundown. Just to be cautious, I separated from my family, slept in a different part of the house. Throughout the night, I got fevers and sweats and I knew what was going on. I got up in the morning, got tested and turns out I got COVID. So we immediately threw the kitchen sink at it,” Rogan said. “All kinds of meds. Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pak, prednisone, everything. • Jonah Hill Can't Live Without His Jiujitsu Gi

Jonah with GQ on 10 Things I can't Live Without "I can't live without my Jiujitsu Gi. I hit a point in my life, in my like early to mid-30s where I was like, if I don’t start like developing hobbies and sh*t, I’m going to be one of those people that only likes to work and I can fall into the workaholic category. So I was like, wouldn’t it be cool if the things I chose were things I was really scared of my whole life? So the first one was jujitsu. I trained with Josh at Clockwork, who’s an amazing guy, and then also Kenny Florian, who’s an amazing guy. I was lucky enough to train with such great people, got me over that fear and then that led to me breaking my fear of surfing. I think the hardest thing in the world to do is to be present, for me And the two things I like to do, if you are not present, you will literally get fucked up, so, like, it forces me to be present both things and jujitsu definitely. You will literally get choked out if you’re thinking about, like, some sh*t you did two years ago that you’re bummed about, you know? I learned early on, if I roll in a class, everyone wants the story of I choked out Jonah Hill. I had to learn fast, like, it’s a story to basically beat the sh*t out of me, so I was like, I’m also going to pull up in a peach gi, so like, you know, I’m this whatever dude. I’m not trying to be like a tough guy. I just am out here having fun. And most of the time, I got to say, culturally, people have been really, really f*ckin’ cool.” Jonah is a world famous actor and producer whose been in some of Hollywood's biggest hit films. He's been a mat savage for over 2 years now and we're happy to have him part of the jits family OS! Follow us for more fight news! Fight.TV
