Conor McGregor took center stage at the BKFC Spain weigh-ins on Friday, stealing the spotlight ahead of Saturday’s event in Marbella. As tensions flared between lightweight headliners Franco Tenaglia and Tony Soto, McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion and recent BKFC part-owner, jumped in to prevent a full-blown brawl. Tenaglia and Soto, who will fight for a vacant lightweight title in the main event, had a heated face-off that nearly turned physical before "The Notorious" intervened.
McGregor, clearly enjoying himself, stepped between the two fighters to break up the confrontation, defusing the situation and keeping things from escalating. Known for his larger-than-life personality, McGregor took the opportunity to grab the lightweight championship belt and hold it above his head, cackling with joy as he paraded the gold in front of the crowd.
This BKFC event in Marbella, Spain, is headlined by Tenaglia vs. Soto. Alongside the lightweight title bout, two other championship fights are on the card. Austin Trout, the 165-pound champion, will defend his title against Rico Franco, while 175-pound champion David Mundell will face off against Danny Christie.
McGregor's presence at the weigh-in has fueled excitement around the event, adding to his growing involvement in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). Since becoming a part-owner of the promotion in April, McGregor has been actively promoting the sport and even hinted at future participation. Though sidelined from UFC action since his leg injury in July 2021, McGregor is awaiting his next fight booking after a grudge match with Michael Chandler fell through earlier this year.
With McGregor stirring up drama and the promise of multiple title fights, BKFC Spain is set to deliver an action-packed night of bare-knuckle boxing.
