UFC 302 Weigh-In Results: Makhachev and Poirier Make Weight, Lima Misses by 4 Pounds

Makhachev and Poirier Make Weight
UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev

Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier are officially set to make history at UFC 302. Ahead of their highly anticipated lightweight championship clash in the main event this Saturday, both fighters successfully gained weight on Friday morning, coming in at exactly 155 pounds.

A win for Makhachev would tie the UFC record for most consecutive lightweight title defenses at three. Conversely, a victory for Poirier would mark the longest path to an undisputed title in UFC history, taking him 31 fights to achieve this milestone. The previous record was held by Michael Bisping, who took 26 fights to become the UFC middleweight champion.

In the co-main event, Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa also hit their marks, weighing in at 185 pounds for their five-round middleweight showdown. Strickland is making his first appearance since narrowly losing the middleweight title to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 297. Costa, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back from a 1-3 slump and earn another shot at UFC gold.

However, Friday’s weigh-ins weren’t without drama. Andre Lima missed the mark significantly, coming in at 130 pounds, which is four pounds over the non-title limit for his flyweight bout against Mitch Raposo. As a result, the UFC announced that the fight would proceed as a catchweight bout, with Lima forfeiting 30 percent of his show and winning money as a penalty.

Main Card:

  • Islam Makhachev (155) vs. Dustin Poirier (155)

  • Sean Strickland (185) vs. Paulo Costa (185)

  • Kevin Holland (185) vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk (185)

  • Niko Price (170) vs. Alex Morono (170)

  • Randy Brown (170) vs. Elizeu Zaleski (170)

Preliminary Card:

  • Cesar Almeida (185) vs. Roman Kopylov (185)

  • Jailton Almeida (241) vs. Alexandr Romanov (265)

  • Grant Dawson (155) vs. Joe Solecki (155)

  • Phil Rowe (171) vs. Jake Matthews (170)

The stage is set for an exciting night of fights, with Makhachev and Poirier’s historic bout headlining the event. UFC fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the action, with high stakes and championship implications on the line.
