  • Canelo confirms his return to the ring in September teaming up with PBC

Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions and Canelo Alvarez are working together once more. The Mexican boxing legend declared in a quick video uploaded to his Instagram account on Thursday that PBC will sponsor his upcoming fight in September. Although the undisputed super middleweight champion didn't name a rival, Jermall Charlo is thought to be the favourite to face Alvarez next for the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO 168-pound titles. Haymon reportedly met with Alvarez and Eddy Reynoso, his manager and trainer, recently to discuss the prospect of challenging the undefeated WBC middleweight champion next. Before the month is over, possibly as early as this Friday, Alvarez, 32, will reveal who his following opponent will be. Despite not competing for two years, Houston native Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) has long desired to challenge Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KOs). Additionally, Charlo has often stated his desire to increase his weight from the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds to the middleweight limit of 160 pounds in exchange for that advantageous opportunity. Alvarez's upcoming fight will be the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View show, though he hasn't officially announced that Charlo will be his next opponent. The date is probably going to be September 16, but as of Thursday, nothing was set in stone.

  • Dana White is open to making Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg as both are 'dead serious' about the fight

Recently, Elon Musk challenged Mark Zuckerberg for a fight in what initially seemed to be a joke. But things got serious. Billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg often compete against each other in terms of their wealth but if things go in the right direction, fans might see them squaring off as MMA fighters in an arena. Recently, Musk challenged Zuckerberg for a fight in what initially seemed to be a joke. But things got serious, when Zuckerberg replied with: " Send me location". In an interview with TMZ Sports, UFC President Dana White has confirmed that both Musk and Zuckerberg are "absolutely dead serious" about fighting each other in a match in the octagon. “I was talking to both Elon and Mark last night. Both guys are absolutely dead serious about this. They both said, ‘Yeah, we’ll do it!',” said White. The series of events that have led to the current scenario date back to Tuesday when Musk took a dig on reports of Zuckerberg's Meta planning the launch of a Twitter rival by the name of Threads. “I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options. At least it will be ‘sane.’ Was worried there for a moment,” wrote Musk. UFC President White has claimed that Zuckerberg reached out to him to find out if Musk was serious about the fight. White then confirmed it with Musk who told him "Yeah, I am dead serious". While Zuckerberg vs Musk fight is still undecided and not official, White weighed in on the enormity and significance of the fight if it actually happens. “This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world — bigger than anything that’s ever been done, it would break all pay per view records. These guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity,” predicted White. “You don’t have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight. Everybody would wanna see it,” he added.

  • International Olympic Committee removes IBA from Olympics

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has been expelled from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for failing to finish reforms including governance, finances, and ethical issues. On Thursday, 69 members of the IOC voted in favour of banishing the IBA, with just one member voting against it. Ten members didn't participate in the vote. The executive board, which is led by IOC President Thomas Bach, advocated the IOC's decision two weeks ago, thus it seemed inevitable that it would be adopted. However, boxing will continue to be an Olympic event at the 2024 Paris Games. “We highly value the sport of boxing. We have an extremely serious problem with IBA because of their governance,” Bach told IOC members during their online meeting. The IOC had issues with the IBA's management, which included Russian and Uzbek presidents, as well as its financial support from the Russian government's energy company, Gazprom, as well as the fairness of the competition and the judging. As it did for the Tokyo Games in 2021, the IOC is already in charge of organizing boxing competitions for the Paris Olympics without consulting the IBA. It was unclear whether boxers competing for national federations who continue to be IBA members would be considered eligible for the Paris competition.

  • Alexa Grasso vs Valentina Shevchenko rematch set for September

According to reports, Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko will rematch on September 16 for the UFC flyweight championship. The initial source to break the news of the Grasso vs. Shevchenko rematch plans for the UFC was The Schmo. At UFC 285 earlier this year, Grasso defeated Shevchenko in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. Shevchenko appeared to be in control in the first rounds, but Grasso took advantage of a mistake by Shevchenko to secure the face-crank submission. Since switching from strawweight to flyweight, Grasso has won five straight matches. She recently defeated Viviane Arajo and Maycee Barber, among others. The atmosphere for Grasso vs. Shevchenko on Mexican Independence Day might be among the most exciting in recent UFC history. However it is unclear if the event will take place in Mexico or the United States. Shevchenko was one of the most dominant champions in UFC history prior to losing to Grasso. After winning the UFC women's flyweight title for the first time, she successfully defended it seven times.

  • AEW owner Tony Khan wants to buy Bellator MMA

Tony Khan, president of AEW, and principal investor Shahid Khan have expressed interest in purchasing the Bellator MMA. The Khan Family is one of several organisations who have expressed interest in buying Bellator MMA from Paramount Global, according to Ariel Helwani's story on The MMA Hour. It's unclear whether The Khans are still interested or how genuine the interest is. Along with other non-sports/entertainment businesses, the Khan Family presently owns AEW, the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Premier League's Fulham football club. The Professional Fighters League (PFL) is the party most interested in buying Bellator MMA, even if this hasn't been officially stated. Helwani pointed out that PFL initially withdrew and then returned to the discussion a few weeks ago, possibly in connection with fresh investment funds that may be made public in the next weeks or months. The negotiations this past weekend were acknowledged by the heads of Bellator and the PFL, Scott Coker and Rey Sefo. Helwani claimed that Liberty Media, a consortium of investors who were also interested in purchasing WWE, has expressed interest.

  • "Sh*tbag Joe Rogan is responsible for ridiculous Jon Jones fight rumors " claims Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury called UFC analyst Joe Rogan a "s**tbag" and said that the notion of a crossover fight with Jon Jones was his fault. Ever since Rogan predicted Jones would dominate Fury, the heavyweight divisions of boxing and mixed martial arts have been speculating about a potential matchup. Gypsy King Fury, 34, flew into a fit of rage at the notion of Jones getting the better of him in a no holds barred fight, screaming down his iPhone and posting the footage to Instagram. And he lays the ensuing talk of a cross-sport clash squarely at the feet of multi-millionaire podcast Rogan. During a recent Q&A at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA Gym in Phuket, Thailand, he said: “It was actually Joe Rogan, little s**tbag, who [started this]. "Just out of the blue, there was no talk of me or Jon even fighting. Jon’s a great guy, probably the GOAT of MMA. "[Rogan] said, ‘Oh if Tyson Fury goes in a room with Jon Jones he’s going to get absolutely smashed to bits.’ "Like, if someone goes in the room with me and it’s no holds barred, you’re going to have to kill me to stop me.” Rogan's insistence that mixed martial arts' pound-for-pound king would have his way with Fury still irks the Brit. The WBC heavyweight champion said: “He didn’t say an MMA fight or a boxing fight, he said go in a room together and Tyson Fury’s not walking out.

  • Logan Paul after Training with Volkanovski and Adesanya: “I'm not doing BJJ again."

Following their most recent agreement with Logan Paul's hydration company, PRIME, Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya recently travelled to Puerto Rico to see him. While at the Paul brothers' new headquarters, Volkanovski and Adesanya chose to train 'The Maverick' in BJJ and made the difficult decision to face the newly minted WWE star head-on. Adesanya chose to instruct Logan Paul in the art of grappling and posted a video of their training session together. During their session, "The Last Stylebender" is obviously an expert, but Paul demonstrates he is no pushover. The Australian then displayed his all-around skills by ragdrag dollingolling Paul around the mat before forcing him to tap out while the 28-year-old continued to grapple with "The Great." Logan Paul then invited Alexander Volkanovski on the IMPULSIVE podcast shortly after their training session. Paul talked about his encounters with the two UFC champions on the program: "Man you [Alexander Volkanovski] are so strong and dominant, and you put me in a body lock and I felt like you could have tightened your leg so much... Literally [could have] split me in half. I'm not doing BJJ again." He added: "We were drilling this body triangle... And he goes, 'Oh, my legs are short and I don't really do the body triangle often'... And when we actually go to do it he literally almost kills me."
