WBO Featherweight Champ Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete is set to fight next weekend. Its been a while since we've seen him fight a dangerous opponent. He has been world champion for 3 years and in that time maybe Dogboe and Diaz were the dangerous fights but it was a while ago. I cant think of another dangerous opponent he's had since. I think he is too comfortable and making title defences against fighters that dont challenge him much. Why hasnt he tried to unify against another featherweight champ. Now I know him being Top Rank and the other 3 champs being different promotion companies the unification fights are a little harder to negociate and do, but its possible. Now imagine a fight between Navarrete(WBO)v.s Vargas(WBC) or even better a fight between Navarrete(WBO)v.s Santa Cruz(WBA). I would love to see him v.s Leo Santa Cruz, just imagine those two in a scrap! It would be epic. These champs need to get out of that comfort zone and try to be great.

Logan Paul has revealed that he plans to return to boxing in December. So far, Paul's pugilistic career has been up and down to say the least. Paul's three boxing matches have generated a ton of interest despite the fact that he has yet to succeed in the ring; two of them have sold over a million pay-per-view subscriptions. In an interview with The Pat McAfee show, Logan, explaining whyche wasnt on time: “That’s why I was late, I was sparring – I’m a boxer again. We’re getting back in the ring. We’re going to go from professional sport to professional sport. I want to get a fight in December. You know you only get one first impression. That’s part of my ability to make moments. I like making first impressions big, so I want to wait until we’re ready.” Although Paul stated that he planned to return to boxing before the end of the year, many assumed that he would give up the sport after signing with the WWE in June, but ligan laid those worries to rest after hinting that he is already planning his next opponent. Jake Paul has made an incredible offer to travel to London and fight fellow YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI, as his bout with Alex Wassabi is in doubt. KSI's previously scheduled fight with Alex Wassabi appears to be in jeopardy after Wassabi appears to have injured himself just two weeks before the fight. Jake Paul has been training for a 205-pound fight against Hasim Rahman Jr. Jake said: “Heard that Alex is out because of a concussion. F***** up. This was a big opportunity for Alex. He will be back,” Paul wrote on Twitter. “KSI… everything happens for a reason. I’ll come to fight in your hometown. Your boxing company. You are A-Side. I also agree to make 180 pounds for August 27. You accept?” In a series of posts, Paul continued to criticize KSI while also predicting why he didn't think the fight would take place in just a few weeks. In response, KSI stated that after Wassabi dropped out, his team had already contacted another opponent to step in and face him in August on short notice. Paul and KSI's connection extends beyond their previous boxing matches with Logan Paul. Jake Paul fought Deji Olatunji, KSI's younger brother, on the same night KSI drew Logan in an amateur boxing match. The victory was the Liverpudlian's second of the year after his submission of Kazula Vargas in March at The O2 arena. However, Terrance McKinney called him out following his own stunning finish at UFC Vegas 59, so he didn't have much time to enjoy his victory. Paddy Pimblett was referred to as a "muppet" by rising UFC star Terrance McKinney, who wants to fight the British fighter at Madison Square Garden. The UFC 281 main event will pit Erin Blanchfield against Pimblett's close friend and comrade Molly McCann. The Scouse fighters have shared all three cards since Pimblett signed with the organization last year, and they frequently claim that when it comes to fighting, they are a package deal. When McKinney realized that McCann would be taking part in the super-card, which would have Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira for the middleweight title trilogy as its main event, he took to Twitter to react against Pimblett. The Brit admitted that he weighed around 200 pounds on Saturday night, which is a massive 44 pounds over the lightweight limit. However, he also said that he is not currently training for a fight. After pouring water on a potential fight against Terrance McKinney he has given the fans further update as to when does he plan to step inside the octagon in the near future. In the main event, the UFC’s #5 ranked 135-pounder, Marlon “Chito” Vera viciously knocked out the former bantamweight champion, Dominick Cruz at Pechanga Arena. The volume was all on the side of Cruz. But it didn’t go in the favor of Cruz. Vera hurt Dominick on a few occasions before ultimately landing a killer kick putting him out cold in the fourth round. Cruz was ahead on the cards of all three judges heading into the fourth round, 29-28, winning the first and second rounds. Cruz looked confident throughout the fight as he kept throwing his combination keeping Vera on the backfoot. But Vera had his moments too. Vera dropped Cruz in the first, but Cruz was landing the cleaner, harder shots and using his superlative footwork to stay away from Vera's power for the most part. Cruz also had a couple of timely takedowns that kept Vera guessing. The momentum changed in the third round when Vera dropped Cruz with a right hand roughly 90 seconds into the round. “Chito! Chito!” chants rained down, as they had earlier in the fight, despite Cruz fighting in his hometown. In the fourth, Vera caught Cruz coming in with a jab that dropped Cruz, too. Not long after, Vera connected with that highlight-reel head kick finish that instantly dropped him to the canvas. Vera ambushed for follow-up punches, and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight seconds later. It could be one of the best knockouts of the year in the UFC. In his post-fight interview, Vera told the San Diego crowd that he respects their boy and revealed the secret behind the knockout. He gave the credit to his coach Jason Parillo who was able to catch Cruz off guard. Parillo instructed Vera in between rounds to "throw a bomb after your punches and you will find him." That is indeed what "Chito" did. Cruz tried to duck away to his right and Vera crushed him with a left head kick. The crowd didn't stay silent for very long, ultimately cheering the finish and Vera's post-fight speech. The fight was a big one in the UFC bantamweight division. Marlon Vera is now on a 4-fight win streak which ultimately put him next for the title fight. But Chito must hold his horses as there is much going on in the bantamweight division. Aljamain Sterling is defending his title against T.J. Dillashaw in the co-main event at UFC 280 Abu Dhabi. Former champion Petr Yan is also facing Sean O’Malley under the same card. There is a huge decision to be made by Dominick Cruz. Cruz is 2-2 in his last four fights. He returned to the cage once again for another run after several injuries. He might have some hunger in him left but it is not going well for the Dominator. He is currently 37 years old and would be looking to end his combat career on a good note.

UFC bantamweight division is in the headlines nowadays as the things are boiled up and everybody wants gold around the waist. But time will tell who is going to stand on top by the end of the calendar year. This weekend, the UFC is heading to San Diego, California for its latest Fight Night show. In the headline bout, two of the world’s top bantamweights, Marlon Vera and Dominick Cruz are set to face off. Dominick Cruz (24-3) is a name not to forget when it comes to the bantamweight division. He was one of the greatest bantamweights on the planet. After winning the inaugural UFC bantamweight championship, He defended his title against Urijah Faber and Demetrious Johnson. But later he had to vacate the title due to recurring injuries. Cruz returned from years on the shelf to dethrone T.J. Dillashaw in early 2016, reclaiming the title he never lost in the octagon in the process. However later that year, he lost to Cody Garbrandt in a title fight as he was dropped several times by the challenger and judges gave a unanimous decision in favor of Garbrandt. The injury bug struck him again and numerous issues kept The Dominator away from the sport. He returned to an unexpected title shot against the champion Henry Cejudo. Cejudo gave a vicious knee, knocking out Cruz. Since then, he looks healthier and more confident to reach the mountaintop once again. He has won his last two fights against Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz. He is currently ranked #8 in the division He almost lost a decade due to his injuries but at the age of 36, he is still hugely skilled and has never lost a non-title bout in his octagon career. Marlon Vera (19-7-1) is one of the tricky fighters rising in the bantamweight division. What makes the #5 ranked so dangerous is the fact that he’s got highly explosive skills in all areas, and he’s also a lethal finisher, as only four of his career 19 wins went to the distance. He is currently hitting his peak as he takes on another former champion Dominick Cruz. The last champ he fought was the former featherweight king Jose Aldo who simply had too much class for him on the night sealing a unanimous decision. Since that loss, he has responded well in with a unanimous decision victory over Davey Grant and then put on his best shot to date when he knocked out the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar with a brutal front kick. He then followed that up with another unanimous decision over the highly rated Rob Font back in April. The bantamweight division has never been so stacked and there is already a queue of contenders waiting in line for Aljamain Sterling. Dominick Cruz will be looking to make a hometown fight a special one with a win. Vera will be eyeing the throne with no intentions of falling short to another former champion. A win for either man will put them one step away from the title fight.
