After the spectacular UFC 272 event, UFC is set to host another action-packed fourth event, UFC 273, in April.
UFC 273 will be an action-packed and thrilling event in which featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski faces Jung Chan Sung, also known as the Korean Zombie.
In fact, a pair of title fights in March are now being moved back a month and one is getting a new challenger. UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell told ESPN on Friday that Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanowski and Bantamweight Champion Jimenez Sterling will defend their crown on April 9 at UFC 273. Volkanowski, who is expected to face Max Holloway for the third time, will now face Chan Sung Jang in the main bout.
The event was originally planned to be held in Brooklyn, New York, but will now go down to Jacksonville, Florida.
Volkanovski (23-1) is coming up for runner-up in the 2021 Fight of the Year against Brian Ortega in UFC 266. Volkanovski won his 10th UFC win by a unanimous decision. Prior to the Ortega Fight, Volkanovski defeated Holloway in a unanimous decision to win the UFC 245 title for the first time in December 2019. Seven months later, with a separate decision against "Blessed", he easily grabbed his new accessories with title defense.
Jung (17-6) lost his first shot in the Featherweight title in 2013, losing to Jose Aldo to TKO. He has since been out of South Korea for more than three years due to compulsory military service. After a 4-2 lead since returning to Octagon, Jung has maintained his position as a top contender for the championship. His recent tour was an impressive decision against Dan Ege, which helped the war recover from a one-sided defeat against Ortega.
Dan Hooker has made his predictions for next month's title fight against Alexander Volkanovski. UFC Featherweight believes his teammate will win the fight in high light rail fashion.
Also on the card is bantamweight champion Aljamin Sterling's Tessia Torres against Peter Yan and Mackenzie Durn.
Sterling (20-3) was heading for the Yan Fight in rare form, winning five consecutive fights against game opponents such as Corey Sandhagan, Jimmy Rivera, Pedro Manhoz and Cody Steeman. He has not competed since UFC 259 in March 2021 due to long neck problems that required surgery.
Yan (16-2) claimed the interim UFC Bantamweight title by defeating Sandhagen in a five round fight of the night at UFC 267. And defeated long-time contenders such as urijah Faber and Rivera.
